Thank You rhinehaus: #RHINEandDI
/Since our inception, our one constant has been rhinehaus for away games. We’ve built up many memories with our friends behind the bar at rhinehaus over the years, and it’s tough to say goodbye, so we’ll just say “see you soon”.
Between Corben Bone’s long distance goal against KR Reykjavic in 2016’s IMG Academy and last year’s final match with an unimaginable draw against DC United with only 9 men on the field, there have been some amazing memories made at rhinehaus.
As we move into the new stadium next year, we will be forced to face other changes, one being Mecklenburg Gardens will no longer be a viable home game bar. To preserve our relationship going into 2021, we have made the decision to move our away games to Mecklenburg Gardens.
For 2020, all matches home and away will be at Mecks. We know a lot of people were unable to make it to rhinehaus for away games because of difficulty parking and some of the late west coast matches made bringing kids to rhinehaus at 10pm a chore for some. We tested out a few west coast matches at Mecks for a trial run of moving away games there, and were happy with the turnout and reception. To help with this transition for 2020, Mecks has added more TVs to the beer hall where we will be watching away matches.
We will forever be grateful to rhinehaus for opening their doors to Die Innenstadt and providing much needed support to the growing movement of soccer in Cincinnati. After the 2016 season, they rewired all of the TVs to provide multiple screens to stream FCC matches in real time when our games were only shown on Youtube (only for the team get a TV deal in 2017). They’ve been flexible in working with us at odd hours, and we have developed an incredible partnership with a charity of their choosing - It Starts with the Shoes. Together, we have raised $3,000 to this incredible charity that provides shoes to local soccer teams who cannot afford them. That partnership with ISWTS will continue during our transition to Mecks. We hope you will continue to join us for away games and help raise funds for ISWTS. You can read more about it on our site here.
We will continue to look for opportunities to partner with rhinehaus in the future, and hope you continue to go there for your various non-FCC needs.
We want to hear from you!
Finally, we’re asking every to tweet at us (@dieinnenstadt) and rhinehaus (@rhinehausotr) with the hashtag #RhineAndDI and tell us your favorite memory at rhinehaus!
Thanks, again, to rhinehaus for your commitment to DI, FCC, and soccer in Cincinnati. We’ll see you soon!
