Thank You rhinehaus: #RHINEandDI

Since our inception, our one constant has been rhinehaus for away games. We’ve built up many memories with our friends behind the bar at rhinehaus over the years, and it’s tough to say goodbye, so we’ll just say “see you soon”.

Between Corben Bone’s long distance goal against KR Reykjavic in 2016’s IMG Academy and last year’s final match with an unimaginable draw against DC United with only 9 men on the field, there have been some amazing memories made at rhinehaus.

As we move into the new stadium next year, we will be forced to face other changes, one being Mecklenburg Gardens will no longer be a viable home game bar. To preserve our relationship going into 2021, we have made the decision to move our away games to Mecklenburg Gardens.

For 2020, all matches home and away will be at Mecks. We know a lot of people were unable to make it to rhinehaus for away games because of difficulty parking and some of the late west coast matches made bringing kids to rhinehaus at 10pm a chore for some. We tested out a few west coast matches at Mecks for a trial run of moving away games there, and were happy with the turnout and reception. To help with this transition for 2020, Mecks has added more TVs to the beer hall where we will be watching away matches.

We will forever be grateful to rhinehaus for opening their doors to Die Innenstadt and providing much needed support to the growing movement of soccer in Cincinnati. After the 2016 season, they rewired all of the TVs to provide multiple screens to stream FCC matches in real time when our games were only shown on Youtube (only for the team get a TV deal in 2017). They’ve been flexible in working with us at odd hours, and we have developed an incredible partnership with a charity of their choosing - It Starts with the Shoes. Together, we have raised $3,000 to this incredible charity that provides shoes to local soccer teams who cannot afford them. That partnership with ISWTS will continue during our transition to Mecks. We hope you will continue to join us for away games and help raise funds for ISWTS. You can read more about it on our site here.

We will continue to look for opportunities to partner with rhinehaus in the future, and hope you continue to go there for your various non-FCC needs.

We want to hear from you!

Finally, we’re asking every to tweet at us (@dieinnenstadt) and rhinehaus (@rhinehausotr) with the hashtag #RhineAndDI and tell us your favorite memory at rhinehaus!

Thanks, again, to rhinehaus for your commitment to DI, FCC, and soccer in Cincinnati. We’ll see you soon!

The Home Sweet Home Campaign for Affordable Housing in The West End

Seven Hills Neighborhood Houses has started the Home Sweet Home Campaign to raise awareness and funds for affordable housing in the West End. The FCC community will be moving there in just a couple of years, and Die Innenstadt believes that affordable housing in the neighborhood is an important effort to get behind.

There are three events going on between August 29th-31st, 2019. All of the profits from these events will be going directly to affordable housing projects in the West End.

The first event is a local celebrity slow pitch softball game, which will be held on August 29th at 7pm.

The second event will be the Homecoming dance on Friday, August 30th from 7-11pm, and will be a ticketed event with a couple bands, drinks, and light appetizers.

The third event will be the HomeRUN 5k on Saturday, August 31st at 9am. This event will be a 5k run through the West End that will end at the West End Reunion in Wade Street Park. This is where we need your help!

Home Sweet Home is looking for volunteers during the 5k who can…

1. Distribute water along the route.

2. Hold signs along the course to route the participants in the right direction (and cheer them on!)

Sign up here if you are interested and we will get details to you later next week!

Additionally, you can make a donation to Home Sweet Home’s GoFundMe page, here.

Please let us know if you have any questions and we appreciate everyone’s efforts!

Trivia Night & LAFC Watch Party

Join us for the first ever trivia night with Die Innenstadt at Mecklenburg Gardens!

4/13/19 at Mecklenburg Gardens
Watch Party starts at 8:30pm, trivia begins at 9pm, kickoff at 10:30pm
Facebook Event Link

FC Cincinnati is playing a late match at Los Angeles Football Club on Saturday, April 13. Kickoff isn't scheduled until 10:30pm, so we are hosting trivia starting at 9pm! Mecklenburg Gardens will keep their kitchen open later than normal to feed the masses, and we'll be meeting in the bier hall starting at 8:30pm.

DI Vice President Bob Brumberg will be your trivia host. Like the classic radio show “Sports or Consequences” (which inspired the “we don’t mess around” goal chant), this trivia night will feature mainly questions about sports (mainly soccer & FC Cincinnati), but will also feature a "Consequences" round. This round will feature questions of a theme chosen by Mr. Brumberg, which will be a surprise to all in attendance.

Trivia teams will be limited to 4 people. If you don't have a team, we will be able to find you a team to join at the event (come make some new friends). The entrance fee to participate in trivia will be $5 per person (you can sign up online at the link below or in person), with all proceeds going to our away game charity partner It Starts With The Shoes!

We will have various prizes (such as a $50 Mecklenburg Gardens gift card) for the winners and throughout the evening. Stay tuned!

The game will still be on at rhinehaus, and if trivia isn't your thing, or you'd rather spend the evening there, you're welcome to join the wonderful people at TBMFBIOTR for the match. We will not have scarves available at rhinehaus, though, so you will have to come to Mecklenburg if you wish to pick up your membership package, tifo poster, etc.

If you would like to purchase your trivia spot ahead of time, you can do this at our store here

If you would like to purchase a tifo poster and pick up at Mecklenburg Gardens, go here.

What is FloFC? Who Does it Impact? What Can You Do?

What is FloFC? Who Does it Impact? What Can You Do?

Die Innenstadt is disappointed with FC Cincinnati’s decision to sell its regional streaming rights to FloFC. We believe this move will significantly inhibit the growth of FC Cincinnati support across the FloFC ‘regional area’ and come at a significant cost to the fans. Read more as Ryan Lammi walks you through what this means for FCC fans in the tri-state area.
